The Hubble has discovered lots of amazing things in the Universe that we couldn't begin to dream about. Distant stars, black holes, and many more things. Perhaps the most amazing is dark energy. In the 1990's, scientists believed that the Universe was slowing down with its expansion. Scientists figured out the rate the Universe was expanding, but wanted to see how much it had slowed down over a few billion years. Two groups of scientists observed supernovae, only to learn they were further away then they should have been. The observed more, getting the same results. This changed their view on everything and doubted the previous thoughts. Over much consideration, the drew to a conclusion that the Universe was speeding up to to an unknown force now referred to as "dark energy", which unlike gravity, repulses things. Scientists believe this is why the Universe has accelerated in growth. The Hubble, being in space, was the only thing to con

So, obviously, the Hubble telescope has discovered many, many planets. However, before you read on, know this: there are actually fewer solar systems than you might think, as stars like our sun are rare when compared with the number of other types of planets and stars. Ground telescopes have discovered another form of solar system, but instead of a sun, the planets orbit around a dead star that emits high levels of lethal radiation, but not as much radiation as our sun. These stars are called "pulsar stars."

So, there's this thing called the "Hubble Deep Field." For those who don't know what that is, pay attention in science. The Hubble Deep Field is a small portion of space that the Hubble telescope has discovered. In the Deep Field, the are hundreds of observable galaxies, but what is amazing is that the light from the Deep Field has been travelling for billions of years! That means the Hubble Deep Field is billions of light-years away from Earth. This has allowed scientists to glance into the creation of the Universe and what planets and galaxies were like in recent creation!
